Cecil County, Division 1

President’s Message

It is with much excitement that we announce the beginning of a new division. Cecil County Division 1 was installed in May of 2016 in Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton, MD. Our Chaplain is Jim Yeakel.

The Ladies of the new Cecil County Division 1 have been hard at work. We have come a long way. We kept busy this summer with many events. Several of us attended Irish Heritage night watching the Wilmington Blue Rocks baseball team with fellow sisters from St. Brigid’s Division 1. In August, we celebrated our first Lady of Knock Mass with a picnic dinner to follow at the rectory with family members joining us. Our first fundraiser was held at Friendly’s restaurant in Glasgow, DE in September. Our second fundraiser was held in October, joining other charitable groups at Boscov’s Department Store’s Friends and Family events.

We have many things planned for our first year. We will be participating in the Immaculate Conception Annual Christmas Bazaar with our own booth, helping with the parish’s Outreach, visiting a local nursing home and adopting two Irish Ladies to visit for the holidays and planning our first calendar year of events. It will be exciting for all of us as we are still welcoming new members from around Cecil County.

With two successful fundraisers behind us, we have established “Brigid’s Bounty” as our charitable fund, that we look forward to sharing with our sponsor parish and charities in the community.
Our meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month from September to May at 1 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Parish Center Library. Please come join us! We are always welcoming new members.
