Welcome/President’s Message

We welcome you to The Maryland Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians website.

The MD LAOH is a sisterhood of Irish Catholic women that are a local order of a national charitable organization. We strive to live our motto of Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity that promote caring for others and our Irish heritage. We also promote our Catholic faith through charitable works and social events. We assist in both local events such as parades, festival, and divisional charities. We have 11 divisions throughout the state and we welcome you to join us.

Dear Sisters,

What a year we have had.
As I reflect on all that has happened in 2020 one of the things that stands out above all else
is that against all this uncertainly, we persevered.

Divisions found creative ways to meet. Some through Zoom, others in church parking lots
and even a few in the backyards of our LAOH sister’s homes.

Virtual fundraisers took the place of in person fundraisers and thanks to your creative thinking,
we surpassed previous year’s numbers.

Many of our sisters found themselves working on the frontlines of the pandemic and others.
put their talents to use by making masks and delivering food to those in need.

We joined in prayer for the healing of our country, for the sick and for those LAOH sister’s we have lost.

When all has been said and COVID-19 is behind us we will be able to look back and say, “look at what we accomplished”.

I had faith in each one of my MD LAOH sisters and could never be prouder of
all the work you did in seeing us through this past year.

This year will be one of many challenges, funds need to be raised on division and state levels and we have a State Convention to plan. If we could make it through 2020 on lock down and wearing masks, imagine what we can accomplish when the doors open, and the masks come off.

In Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity,
Sincerely,
Kathy Norris
