We welcome you to The Maryland Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians website.
The MD LAOH is a sisterhood of Irish Catholic women that are a local order of a national charitable organization. We strive to live our motto of Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity that promote caring for others and our Irish heritage. We also promote our Catholic faith through charitable works and social events. We assist in both local events such as parades, festival, and divisional charities. We have 11 divisions throughout the state and we welcome you to join us.
As President of the Maryland Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, it is both an honor and a privilege to serve an organization devoted to preserving our Irish heritage, Catholic faith, and the values of friendship, unity, and Christian charity.
My love for Irish culture and tradition began during my childhood growing up in Baltimore City in a proud Irish American family. Some of my fondest memories are of my father wearing his Aran sweater and Irish flat cap while the music of the Clancy Brothers played throughout our home. I was especially fortunate to see the Clancy Brothers perform in concert, an experience that left a lasting impression on me and deepened my appreciation for Irish heritage.
That appreciation eventually became a personal journey. I have traveled to Ireland to visit the counties where several of my great-grandparents lived before immigrating to the United States in the mid-1800s. Walking the same roads and seeing the places they once called home gave me a profound sense of connection to the courage, faith, and resilience that shaped both my family’s story and the Irish-American experience.
My journey with the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians began nearly ten years ago when I joined the Cecil County Division. Since then, I have been honored to serve in several capacities, including Secretary and Irish Historian, before becoming Division President in 2019. In 2025, I was deeply humbled to be elected President of the Maryland State Board at our State Convention.
One of the greatest blessings of my involvement with the LAOH has been the opportunity to travel throughout Maryland attending division and state events and getting to know so many dedicated members. The friendships I have formed and the commitment I see from our members to faith, family, heritage, and community continue to inspire me every day.
I look forward to working together as we continue to strengthen our organization, celebrate our Irish traditions, support our communities, and ensure that future generations remain connected to the rich heritage we are so proud to share.
