President’s Message
LAOH Harford County, Division 2 was chartered in March 1999. Originally founded by the mothers of the Harford County Juniors, our current membership is comprised of several mother/daughter combinations.
The LAOH motto is Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity!
Friendship…Fostering friendships is easy in our division. Having twenty members makes it easy to get to know each other. Our members are thoughtful, kind and considerate of each other. We help and support one another.
Unity…On the second Sunday of every January, our division commemorates the feast day of St. Ita, a revered Irish saint. We sponsor a special Mass, healing service, followed by a reception of Irish food and dancing. Working on this project unites our members with each other. Offering this special event allows us to extend our Irish hospitality to all, thus uniting us with our Sister Hibernians throughout the state.
Christian Charity…Prayer and good works are important to our division. Before our meetings begin, we pray the rosary for our members’ special intentions. Many of our members volunteer in their parishes and local communities. We sponsor a variety of fundraisers for our special charities. Our division supports the Foundation to Eradicate Duchenne, Inc, the Gabriel Network, St. Mark Church Fallston, and local Catholic Schools. We also support the charitable endeavors of our State LAOH.
Meetings are held at St. Mark Fallston Convent, located on the corner of Old Fallston and Reckord Roads in Fallston, Maryland on the third Tuesday of each month. Business meetings are conducted during the winter months. Summer meetings are usually more social; perhaps a pool party, or an ice cream social, or a potluck dinner.
